• My blog on a book I read “Call it courage”:

I read a book about people who had “Chief’s” and such, and this book is about Mafutu, the boy who was afraid. However, during this story, they did speak some weird their-place words that I did not understand, so during this book report, I will not mention them:

Mafutu’s name means Stout Heart, and after his father dies, he will become Great Chief, but he is afraid of the sea. Having lived at the sea, you would have thought “how could anyone be afraid of the sea?” But Mafutu was afraid because of a hurricane that took his mother’s life. It happened when he was 3, his mother was canoeing, searching for sea urchins, the other fishermen, knowing the signs of the hurricane, called warnings. When finally, Mafatu’s mother turned back, it was too late! The canoe rocked and fell over, and Mafutu’s mother held the little child until she saw land. However, exhausted, Mafutu’s mother died.

Mafutu was afraid of the sea for that reason, none other. However, the other kids from Mafutu’s father’s tribe called him “Mafutu, The Boy Who Was Afraid”. Mafutu had two pets, an albatross named Kivi, and a dog, loyal to his master, Uri. Anyways, one day Mafutu was, for he was afraid of the sea, making nets, when one of his ‘friends’ came up. He liked this boy, Kana, for he was one who had never called him afraid, or coward, he also sometimes helped Mafutu with the nets! Kana wanted Mafutu to come on a special fishing trip; but Mufatu, being afraid of the sea, doesn’t want to!

Angrily, Kana walked away. Mafutu is furious with himself, so yelling curses at the Sea God, (He believes the Sea God took his mother’s life) he fills a canoe with 6 drinking nuts, himself and his loyal dog, Uri. He was going to prove himself right, that the sea was nothing; that he was like the other boys, having fun and fishing. Mafutu sets sail! However, for Mafutu’s per luck, a hurricane strikes and blows he, and Uri, into the water! Blindly, Mafutu swam until the storm’s winds dropped and he could look around. His loyal albatross, Kivi, had followed him. Kivi was now urging them on, as if saying ‘Land is this way, hurry, before the Sea God gets you’, so Mafutu and Uri follow Kivi to land! Though they have lost the drinking nuts; they are now safe at shore! Fresh water, bananas, mangoes, breadfruit, everything instead of drinking nuts Mafutu and Uri can feast on.

Over the days, Mafutu explores. That’s when he knows that this isn’t a normal island, it belongs to the Eaters-Of-Men. Knowing his time is short, Mafutu begins looking for a spear, a knife, anything! And then, for this time Mafutu’s luck, a thunderstorm starts and starts a raging fire. Mafutu now starts burning down a good, thick, sturdy tree for his new canoe. Ah, but he wants a pig-tusk necklace, so his father can say- “Ah, my son’s come back with a pig-tusk necklace, he has killed a boar himself.” So, during the time the tree is roasting, Mufatu finds a spear tip! He makes this into a spear and begins searching for a wild boar, but cannot find one!

One day, the canoe is almost ready when Mafutu finds a big pile of whale bones! Treasure! Mafutu thinks it is the Fishermen God who led this whale to his doom! With Uri pulling his share of the weight, Mafutu the other, they bring piles of whale bone up! He makes a knife, so clean and neat-looking it was like nothing could be better to Mafutu! One day, Mafutu made a fish trap and was looking for fish and there he found the same hammerhead shark. Ah, the shark broke the trap, and the fish go right into the hammerhead’s mouth. Suddenly, Uri fell of the canoe, and the hammerhead begins swimming towards Mafutu’s dog, with his soft, brown eyes….

Mafutu stabs the shark’s soft underbelly and then smaller sharks come, tearing flesh off the “Chief” shark’s belly. He dies. Mafutu, The Boy Who Was Afraid, The Coward Of The Sea, killed the hammerhead shark! Over time, Mafutu catches many fish, and Uri is often running along the beach, barking at birds, growling at anything! However, when Mafutu’s canoe is finished, he has one more thing to do: kill a wild boar. And he does. One day he was walking up to a point he was never failed to before (he is looking if the Eaters-Of-Men arrived), when he sees the boar, big, bad and angrily-looking. Uri is off chasing birds, so it is Mafutu who stabs the boar, gets almost killed and then- “Ay! I have killed the wild boar!”

Mafutu roasts the pig, then goes to his fish trap and there, drops his knife! His knife, the speckle of beauty. Ay, but the octopus, big and strong, lives there! Ay, what should do? Well, diving into the water, Mafutu grabs the knife. Ay! He kills the great octopus, and there! He decides to go tomorrow, for he can dry the octopus’ legs to make it lighter! Mafutu went to bed; his canoe packed, ready to set out in the morning. BANG! BANG! BOOM! BASH! BANG! BUDALO! Mafutu wakes up to the Eaters-Of-Men’s drums, he and Uri go into the canoe and, with gladness, heads out! The Eaters-Of-Men follow and, with Kivi and Uri the faithful animals, Mafutu, The Stout Heart, returns home! The end!

I found it was a great book and recommended it to others. The person who wrote Call It Courage was Armstrong Sperry. Out of 10, I would rate it 9, for the Weird Words I could not understand!

  • My animal blog on blackbirds:

A blackbird is eating berries, yet there isn’t many. She will have to fight to get the biggest, blackest ones. A few male blackbirds come and begin fighting over the dried ones. The female blackbird knows she can eat those, but the juicer ones are more energy.

Suddenly, a big shadow passes by and the blackbirds, all but the female, scatters. It is a hawk, its wings passed out like daggers, its claws outstretched. The female blackbird hurries and begins flying away, but the hawk has spotted her. The sparrow hawk soars down and, like a blink of an eye, the blackbird is dinner!

Blackbirds, known for their black feathers, are part of the ‘bird family’. They live almost everywhere, including New Zealand!

    Blackbirds have many natural threats such as;

    • Foxes
    • Wolves
    • turtle
    • Bears
    • Dogs
    • Stoats
    • Domestic cats
    • Eagles
    • Sparrowhawks
    • Magpies
    • Jays

Though blackbirds have a lot of predators, most of them hunt the young. And, of course, not natural, are humans:

Blackbirds, if they eat enough and don’t have any predators attack it, can live 2-4 years.

Blackbirds eat a ton of different things. They like eating berries, nuts, seeds, flowers, grass, bugs, apple, worms, spiders and many other different things, so food is something that, for most birds, is easy to find!

During mating, the males will find a female by chirping, then the female will lay 4-6 eggs. Then, she and her mate will go and feed. When the eggs hatch, both parents always need to feed the chicks, so it is an everyday thing for 3 weeks!

When the chicks are 3 weeks old, they will then fledge!

  • How to make a delicious, easy, healthy, spaghetti:

    Serves 8;

    • 2 tomatoes
    • 2.5 onions
    • 1 can peas
    • 1 kilo mince
    • 1 packet noodles
    • 1/2 packet leafy greens
    • 2.5 carrots
    • tomato sauce
    • cheese
    • water

1: Start with opening the mince and put it in a pan. Then, cut half an onion and add it with your mince. Then, put it on the stove and start cooking!
2: Then cut the vegetables. Once that is done, put it on with a lid. The lid will make it take half the amount of time to finish.
3: Now put the noodles with the water in. They will take about 15 minutes, and do not need to be watched. During this time, CLEAN UP.
4: Stir the food. When the mince is done, add it into the vegetables, then add the tomato sauce into the vegetables.
5: Mix the noodles in and have a yummy, healthy, spaghetti.

(Normally I do have oil, but on this occasion, I didn’t, so I do recommend you to add oil.)

  • Scientific experiment; when rats eat a normal person’s junk food, they seem to have brain-damage:

Two rats, Fry and Rat, are having an experiment. People want to see if Fry eats unhealthy, human junk food, his brain will get damaged. If so, Rat, not eating the junk food, will he be healthy?

Rat is put in a vat of water. There is a little island on the middle, and Rat, seeing so, hurries to it. In less then 5 seconds, he’s managed to get there.

Fry, afterwards, is put in the same vat of water. He’s been eating unhealthy, junk food, and his brain does not work properly. He cannot get out, and eventually, has to be rescued.

Rats are very intelligent creatures. They can do a maze better than we can, if they’ve gone through it. So, if they are so intelligent, why rats that eat unhealthy foods not be able to do something a normal rat can do?

    Easy.

The things most people eat; cakes, hamburgers, fries; that isn’t healthy. When the rats eat it, it damages the rat’s brain. It also damages ours, but because of the rats, we can really tell and know that, what we’re eating, kills us, and the rats.

Soon, they’ve got brain damage, and die.

  • Canine intervention, Heaven, the spoiled dog:

Ever since his father died, the boy had been sad. So, his mother brought him a poodle, that he called “Heaven”. However, they treated Heaven like a person, dressing her and everything, and she soon got spoiled.

So, they called Jas. He first watched as the boy told his story. Then, when he tried taking her on a walk, she refused. She wanted her stroller, and when she didn’t get that, she got upset.

When they got back, they did “the box”. She was called to sit on the box, and if she did, she’d get a treat. This, Heaven learnt quickly.

Much time passed. 3 weeks. Heaven grew better. She learnt to get her paws’ wet, not wear her little doggy booties like normal!

When she was fully trained, the boy said she was “much better and less spoiled”.

    A much better dog!

  • Canine Intervention, Nino, the jealous watchdog:

From birth, Nino was trained to be a loyal watchdog. He was a good dog, and never failed. He was sold to a man at a young age, but now, although he’d been a good dog for ages, he was jealous. And this jealousy could cost the dog’s life.

The man had a wife, and the wife had a new baby. The baby got all of the attention, not Nino himself. He never attacked the baby, and they trusted him, but they worried he might attack the young child, and called Jas.

Jas first learnt the dog’s name and personality. Then, he got straight to work. He needed to teach Nino that he was a guard-dog, and he had to respect and protect the family.

He walked around Nino’s owner. Nino sat, and sometimes tried jumping up, but his owner would say, “No, sit, Nino!” and Nino would sit. Then, Jas put on protective clothes and this time, attacked the owner.

Nino did not stop. He plowed into Jas and knocked him over. It was a little war. The dog was loyal to his owner, and would refuse to let a man, who said, “Give me all your money!” attack his owner. So, he was loyal.

Next, Jas hid in the house while the wife and husband held Nino. Seconds later, Nino leapt up and found Jas. They did this many times.

Perhaps he was a little jealous, but not so jealous.

  • Movie report on The Civil War:

We watched a movie called the Civil War, and this is my movie report on it:

Lee was a person who took pictures during war times. It was dangerous, and she often worried if she would get killed. She had gotten famous because of some neat war pictures that, during her dangerous life, she’d taken.

Once, she saved a girl called “Jessie”, and Jessie became her friend. The next day, Jammy, Joel, and Lee were going on a road trip, and Jessie also came. At first Lee didn’t like it; but eventually she agreed fine, but at a certain area, Jessie would go no more.

They went for ages’. Once, they stopped at a gas station, and Jessie saw two, almost-dead hanging men. She had a decision, -either have them killed or released- and in her panic, Jessie said “killed”, and they were killed. She felt bad.

Once, there was a big war ground. Guns fired; and helicopters went dct, dct, dct, and kept them awake. The next day they went and were almost killed by soldiers’.

Once, there was a friend of Joel’s, and he changed cars. Jessie did, too. When they found Jessie and the other friend, the other friend was shot. So was Jammy.

Then they went to a complete war zone. The president was trying to be killed. Joel, Jessie, and Lee went and took pictures. However, during one time, horror struck.

Jessie was trying to take a picture of a bad man, when Lee, taking Jessie’s place, got shot. Jessie took a picture of a dying president, and then she was famous!

It was a good movie; and I’d rate it 8/10!

  • My movie report on, Canine Intervention; Lady McBeth, Terrifying pit bull:

A man had adopted a pitbull with three legs. She loved her owner, but disliked other people. She would bark and attack them. Though she was three-legged, she was aggressive, and anybody who touched her would get bitten.

So, the man called Jas. The dog barked and tried to attack him, but the pitbull’s owner held its’ leash, and though it tried, the pitbull could not attack Jas.

So, Jas took McBeth away. He trained her. She learnt many things. She’d be told to do something, and then she’d do it. Sometimes, a person would stand, and Jas would say, “Go get ’em, McBeth!,” and she’d go and attack!

She also learnt not to love just one, or perhaps two people, but to love lots of people without going and attacking them. If somebody said “sit”, she should sit, not ignore the person; apart from trying to rip the person’s arm off!

When Lady McBeth returned to her old master’s, Jas was slightly upset. He wanted her… he kinda liked her. He could not keep her, although Beth was quite upset to see him leave!

For a few times’ she’d bitten people; she was given an extra chance. To love people. And live!

  • Canine Intervention; Diesel, Husky-collie mix:

The dog, a husky-collie mix, did not listen. He always jumped up at people, and never obeyed his owners. So, they called Jas, the dog trainer, to come and train Diesel.

First, Jas told the owners they had to be the boss. He tried to make him sit, and he did not obey, so he said firmly, bossily, “Sit!” and Diesel, obeying, sat!

After teaching him to sit, Jas taught him “the box”. There, he had to go on the box, and then a treat would be given. He learnt easily, and got lots of treats. He just had to be taught, as he had not been taught before!

When they went on walks, Diesel pulled ahead, dragging the owner. Jas took Diesel’s leash, and when he pulled him, shortened it so short that he was forced to walk by his side. When he learnt that was what he had to do, she listened!

Jas came every day, and Diesel grew better. He would sit; and Jas would say “Good sit”, and sometimes, give him a treat!

He grew better and better, and soon was a good, family dog!

  • How to make a simple, easy breakfast:

Healthy, easy and delicious, making people want more, this breakfast is perfect!

    Ingredients, serves 9:

    • 1 can peas
    • butter
    • 1 kilo mince
    • 6 eggs
    • 1/2 onion
    • parsley stems
    • 1/5 cabbage
    • 2 cups rice.

1: Start with putting the mince on. To save dishes, you do not need more than 2 pans on this meal. Once the meat is getting brown, stir it.
2: Cut the cabbage and spinach, and then stir it. Cut the onion and also add that in. The rice, taking less time to cook, should be put on, later.
3: Put the rice and water on. Add, from the very start, butter in the rice. During the time the rice cooks, the butter will melt, making the rice very tasty.
4: Once the meat is almost done, add the peas and the eggs. Stir it, and when the rice is done, serve and do the best part:

    Enjoy!

A healthy, yummy, easy meal that takes 35 minutes!

  • Movie report on the Hatching:

We watched a movie called called the Hatching, and this is my movie report on it:

Once, a family of 4 lived in a house when a crow flew in and they had to spend a lot of time trying to catch it. During that time, the crow broke many things, and when the girl, Tinja, caught it, her mother broke it’s neck, furiously.

Tinja found the crow’s egg, and there began to keep it warm. She kept it in her teddy bear’s pocket. There, it grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger every single day. She wondered what would be growing inside that egg; but she knew it was alive.

One day, the animal hatched. She was so terrified, she hid in a cupboard, and the animal might have eaten her, had her father not come, and the animal, in its’ terror, not jumped out of the window and broke it.

Soon after, the bird came back. Tinja and it became friends. The bird’s name was Alli, and together, Alli and Tinja slept together. Tinja did not know what the bird ate, but when she vomited, it ate her vomit. So she ate things for her to vomit up, so Alli could eat.

Apart from Alli killing her friend’s dog, Tinja trusted the bird immensely. Until, once, at her school, the bird turned into a zombie.

Tinja went to live with her mom’s friend for a couple days, and somehow, Alli found her. She’d killed many people, and all of the people were now zombies, but Alli would never ever, ever attack Tinja.

One day, at a gym competition, Alli went into Tinja’s mom’s friend’s room. She would have chopped off the baby’s head with an ax, had Tinja not failed, and the friend scared Alli out.

Now, Tinja and her mom were kicked out.

Back at Tinja’s house, Tinja’s mom was attacked by Alli, and although she did not want to, Tinja said they should kill Alli. They searched the house, and finally, Tinja’s mom found Alli. She wrestled the zombie until Tinja entered.

As Tinja’s mother tried killing Alli with a knife, Tinja stepped into the way, and got stabbed. Instantly, Alli turned from zombie to Tinja herself.

    They’d traded.

I really liked this movie! The only thing I didn’t like was how the bird changed from 4 things; for there were two types of zombies. Still, I’d rate it 8/10!

    Thanks for reading!

  • Book report on “The Secret Zoo:”

I read a book on the Secret Zoo, and this is my book report on it:

Megan just… disappeared. One day she was there, and the next, she wasn’t. Her brother, Noah, worried. She’d been gone 3 weeks. The Action Scouts club decided that they would do something about it, but what could they?

Noah did many things. He went to the zoo and there met Blizzard, the polar bear. He also met the penguin, Podgy. But none of these animals could talk; so none of them could say where Megan was, though they did know.

His friends’ also tried helping. They met the prairie dogs, (and made friends with the squeaky animals!), and met a rhino named Little Bighorn. They did many things to find their dear friend’s sister. All of the animals were friends.

One day, Noah, on Podgy’s back, went down a secret tube. There he was in an icy area. He rode on Blizzard’s back for a long time, then arrived at an Igloo, where he slept the night and changed into dry, warmer clothing where he was warm.

His friends, meanwhile, were in a “Secret Zoo”.

The next day, Noah went to the Secret Zoo. There, he met his friends, and then they learnt why the secret zoo was the Secret Zoo. The story went on, and on, and on. Noah still had no idea where his dear sister, Megan, was.

Then, Secret Zoo workers told them. So, getting all of the animals, they went to fight some creature. They fought and killed many. Once, when Podgy’s and Noah’s life depended on it, Podgy managed to jump up in the air, and fly.

Eventually, they found Megan, and took her home. She was so happy. So was Noah; and the Action Scouts, and the animals of Secret Zoo, and the animals of the Normal Zoo, and all of the zookeepers, and the people of Megan’s neighborhood!

I disliked this book. It made no sense (a penguin; flying?) and I would not recommend it to other people, unless you want to get your mind mixed up! I’d rate it 0.1/10!

    Thanks for reading!
